On Wednesday, 19th July our Year 8, 9, and 10 students gathered for their end-of-term Mass to thank God for a busy and successful academic year. There was a wonderful atmosphere, with over 650 attendees in St Mary and St Michaels church coming together in prayer, reflection and celebration.
This occasion was particularly significant as it marked the last school Mass celebrated by Fr. Willie Skehan and the last Mass before our schools amalgamate in September. We thank Mr. McGarvey for providing the music that elevated the Mass, as well as the student readers and altar servers who played an essential role in making this it such a fitting end to the year.
Earlier in the week, our Year 7 students came together for an Open Air Liturgy in the Year 7 playground to celebrate the end of their first year at Bishop Challoner. The first year at 'big school' is always hugely significant for any student, and our young people enjoyed the chance to reflect on the friends they have made, the challenges they have overcome, and everything they have learned this year. Thank you to Father Willie and our readers for leading the Liturgy so movingly.
