Every Monday during form time all students and staff take the chance to Drop Everything And Read (DEAR).

DEAR Monday is a new initiative started this term by Literacy co-ordinator Ms Harrison and has been a huge success. Here are some of the benefits to reading for 20 minutes per day:

• Children who read 20 minutes a day are exposed to 1.8 million words in one school year and can enjoy a boost to their mental health.

• Reading can help foster empathy, a widened imagination and higher levels of creativity.

• It exposes children to multiple cultures, ideas, and worlds.

• Reading improves writing and critical thinking skills, and expands vocabulary. We encourage all of our students to make use of our school library, or our virtual library which is accessible via THIS LINK.
